oatmeal chocolate chip cookies

a fan favorite cookie perfect for all seasons, no raisins allowed.

inspired by the classic Nestle Toll House back of the bag recipe.

what you will need:

  • a large mixing bowl
  • mixing spoon
  • dry measuring cups
  • standard baking sheet

ingredients

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2 sticks of butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups of dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of granulated white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 2 1/2 cups of old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of dark chocolate chunks

instructions

  1. cream the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and water.
  2. add in the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon. stir until partially combined.
  3. add the oats and both chocolate chips (you can use all one type of chip if that is your preference or what you have on hand). stir until combined.
  4. let dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  5. preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  6. scoop the dough into tablespoon sized balls. arrange on a greased baking sheet 2 inches apart.
  7. bake for 12-14 minutes. cool (a little or a lot) and enjoy 🙂
